Congratulations to Team USA! Gold in 4-Man and Bronze in Women's Bob!
December 19, 2009 ALTENBERG, Germany - USA bobsled drivers Steve Holcomb and Shauna Rohbock placed their Bo-Dyn sleds on the World Cup podium over the weekend on the demanding course in Altenberg, Germany.
Holcomb, after crashing in Saturday's two-man race, came back to grab a silver medal in the Sunday four-man competition. The defending World Champion leads the overall four-man World Cup standings as the tour heads into its holiday break.
Meanwhile, Shauna Rohbock drove herself to the bronze medal in the women's World Cup event.
The American squad is contending for top World Cup honors in all disciplines - men and women - and will head to the Vancouver Winter Olympics as one of the top nations vying for medal honors.
One of the men's drivers they will have to fend off is German Andre Lange. The most decorated Olympic pilot in history returned from injury in Altenberg and captured gold in both two and four man races on his home course.
On the Olympic track at Whistler, Canadian women will be among the favorites. In addition to being on home ice in February, Canada has talent - they finished first and second in front of Rohbock on Saturday - and they have the Canadian Olympic Committee doing its best to give opponents the bare minimum training time on its fast track. |
