The US team of John Napier and Charles Berkeley were victorious in last week’s event in Lake Placid, taking the gold. Steven Holcomb and Justin Olsen of the US were a close second and a Swiss team rounded out third in the 2-Man event. In the 4-Man event, the Americans repeated the 1-2 victory, with Holcomb taking first and Napier in second. In the women’s competition, Germany took first and second with a Canadian team in third. Americans Shauna Rohbock and Elana Meyers finished in fifth and not far behind were the Erin Pac and Michelle Rzepka of the US in seventh. Watch the U.S. dominate again in the upcoming Bobsled World Cup in Cesana, Italy.

The US did not have the same success in Lake Placid, going home without a medal. Germany’s Frankel Rommel and Canada’s Melissa Hollingsworth took first in the men’s and women’s skeleton events. Follow the Americans as they fight to move up the rankings in preparation for the 2010 Olympic Games.
