Congratulations to Team USA! Gold in 4-Man and Bronze in Women's Bob!
January 22, 2010 LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - Officials of the Lucas Oil Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge presented by Whelen Engineering and Speed Channel have announced that coverage of the event, held in Lake Placid Jan. 8-10, will air on the network Jan. 24 at 12 pm ET and Jan. 31 at 5 pm ET. A "meet-the-drivers" promo for these programs can be seen at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_0iqnQp6U0 Other program teasers can be viewed on the Bodine Bobsled Project home page by clicking on: www.bodinebobsled.com Each program will feature two hours of original and different content recorded during the fifth annual event, which raises awareness and money for the development of sled technology for the United States men's and women's bobsled teams. "SPEED TV does an awesome job with this event and I think I get as many fans talking to me about bobsledding as drag racing," said Morgan Lucas, driver of the GEICO Powersports/Lucas Oil dragster. "They run the program a bunch of times so everyone that's into motorsports and watches SPEED TV eventually sees the race. "Bottom line, it's great exposure for the Bo-Dyn Project, which ultimately gets those awesome 'Made in America' sleds to our athletes. We've all seen how well the U.S. team is doing on the world stage since they've switched to Bo-Dyn sleds so it's a very rewarding experience for all of us that are involved in the project." U.S. pilots Steve Holcomb, John Napier, Shauna Rohbock and Erin Pac have had dominating performances over the first half of the season in Bo-Dyn sleds. "In the past, the sport of bobsledding was popular to television viewers because of the Winter Olympic Games," said Phil Kurze, President of the Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project, Inc. "The Lucas Oil Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge presented by Whelen Engineering has provided the opportunity for this thrilling sport to be seen on television each and every year with the bonus of seeing popular NASCAR and NHRA drivers piloting the sleds down the lightning fast track. The mission statement of the Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project includes 'the promotion of the sport of bobsledding in North America' and we are fulfilling this mission with this spectacular event each year. We are very grateful to the generous support from all of our sponsors and equally grateful to all of the drivers who have taken time from their busy schedules to support this event." This year's shows occur as Lake Placid, host of two Olympic Winter Games, marks the 30th anniversary of the historic 1980 competitions. JFM Sports will produce the 25-camera, top-to-bottom presentation from Mount Van Hoevenberg, just outside Lake Placid, and site of the Bodine Challenge. Speed Channel's Ray Dunlap will host the programs which will feature a distinct 30th anniversary, 1980 Winter Olympic feel. These shows will run approximately two weeks prior to the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, British Columbia. The content promises to feature a blend of bobsled action between stars of NASCAR and NHRA, and a look-back at events such as the 1980 Miracle on Ice hockey game between the U.S. and Soviet Union as well as Eric Heiden's unprecedented five gold medals in speed skating. The Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project, Inc. graciously accepts donations for our Made-In-America efforts that are geared to designing and building the best bobsleds in the world.
